Hello,
I'm new here and just wanted to say "hi"
How's it going?
"Buddhism has the characteristics of what would be expected in a cosmic religion for the future: it transcends a personal God, avoids dogmas and theology; it covers both the natural & spiritual, and it is based on a religious sense aspiring from the experience of all things as a meaningful unity" - Albert Einstein

Deleted it, too. Another forum had a thread about "Turing," and it seemed logical to lube up the delete key and use it here, too.

He's a spammer. He was on the AC and sent out about 200 spam PMs before we got him stopped.
He needs to be banned if he hasn't been already.

He seems to be harmless. I think we should be kind, he's reaching out for love...
Mods, maybe explain that we talk about reenacting the Civil War here, and maybe he should hang out where Eastern philosophy is of interest?

The Provost has been informed via email, PM and now an Alert. Once he reads any one of these, I suspect Turing is history (sorry Frenchie, even though he his harmless, the Provost strongly dislikes spammers).

Frenchie,
You mean all this stuff isn't Eastern Philosophy?

Let us all remember that not all Eastern Philosophy is peaceful. Examples include the Warrior code of the Japanesse (Sammari to mid 20th Century) and the worksip of Kali (the cult that gave us the gave us the word for assassin).

and by the way maybe it is applicable to the CW.
There were a couple of Generals in the eastern theater who didn't seem to think fighting was part of the job description.
No wait there were a couple out west too so it can't just be eastern philosophy.
You do have to admire someone like that, willing to point people toward their faith and willing to be picked on world wide for it.
Maybe he thinks because we like military history we are war mongers.
Or maybe he's seen some of the email wars that go on on these boards and figured a little peace and love wouldn't hurt.
He just shouldn't have left out the grass, man. Like wow, cool, groovey. Anybody got any munchies?

Yepper, this goofball who names himself after one of the giants of computer science ought to be heaved over the side tout de suite.

Maybe he's fishing for someone lonely and gullible to start an email correspondence with and see if he can get a few bucks out of them to "help him spread the message of peace to a nervous world".

but quite honestly I've never met a Budhist who wasn't committeed. Oh I know their out there I just never met one.
Sort of like the Amish, never met one that his word and his handshake weren't good enough to transact business on. Again I'm sure there are ones out there that don't qualify just never met one.

And Buddhism, like all groups, has their violent radicals as well. I read a few years ago about a place in the midwest where there were a large number of Asian immigrants. Some of them converted to Christianity and they were harrassed by a few self-appointed guardians of the faith.
All we religions, all we non-religion philosophies, have our dark sides, that is certain...as is human nature.

I've gotten this message twice on two civil war fourms... Same message each time. There was nothing different about the name, sig, nothing.
For those of you wondering about the link (and whats in it) its a website with all kinds of Buddist articles, quotes, that sort of thing (yes, I was stupid enough to click on it)

I think it's a spam-bot. It's programmed to PM as many people on a board as it can. PM it back, I bet you don't get a relevant reply, if any.

I just think it's funny that there are people out there who think they'll actually convert people by doing junk like this. It's kinda like tele-marketers.

Since you have dealt with the problem, I am closing the thread as there is nothing more to be gained by discussing it. Thanks Provost.
