It's gotten to the point now where the only reasonable place to buy something is at events. Buying used is to much of a risk and most vendors will tell you what you want to hear regarding the wait time when you buy new on the phone. And said time will double or triple with some of the worst excuses ever.

I strongly disagree that buying used is too much of a risk. First, that is the only way that some folks can acquire decent goods. SEcond, it is the only way that some can sell items they no longer need, or sell them to rasie funds so that they can purchase what they do need. Not all people have bottomless pockets. If one does not get to many reenactments because of time, distance, other obligations, or both, there is just no better way to go.

I have both bought and sold online and have not had a problem. Many others have also done just the same. [knock on wood ;oD]

Sir, I know you are an agent for Nick Sekela, but many reenactors cannot afford his wonderful items new and buying used--online--is their only option.

First that was obviously my opinion reguarding purchasing used gear. It's just not something I'll be doing unless it's face to face. Sure there's a market for used gear. I sell my old stuff on the various forums as needed. Bottomless pockets? No. It's more like being able to manage your finances. And Nick Sekela has nothing to do with what I said. Maybe 2% of my gear was made by Nick and they're recent purchases.

Apparently there is a dispute between Mr. Watts and Joe Hoffman (Jersey Skillet Licker Products) regarding a payment. Beyond that the forum rules do not allow any further details to be brought forward.

I'm very confused as to why you posted this in this thread?
Does any of this pertain to this gentleman, or his products.
Just curious.

I think it has to be noted that of the items sold here ALL of them have been received by the purchaser. They are happy with the delivery time and the product. So if you have a question about anything please just PM me before you listen to any rumors.

still for sale is the following

one confederate cartidge box

one tarred cartidge box

one tarred cap box

Not directly. Joe's post just put the wheels in motion so that's where it ended up.

Hey Will,
Did you ever get the photo of the Richmond belt posted?

Smokey, it is a mute point now. He had already posted that all items had been sold.

Hey Tom,
No, I was making a comment to Will in regard to a post that he had up in Suttler Row about Nick's Richmond pattern sword belts that he is selling. I was asking if he had ever gotten a photo of the belt to post so that we could see what the belt looked like before buying.

Regards,
Smokey

I am most happy to see that business is being carried out in a timely and forthright manner. While our forum rules with regard to buying & selling are based on "caveat emptor" (let the buyer beware) we do keep an eye on sellers.

Remember, posting here is a privelage, not a right.

I would remind everyone, buyers or sellers, that if they experience any problems, it would be prudent to notify me promptly.

Respectfully,

Provost
