The story of this dress. Once upon a time I had a dress made for by Michelle Petit. All the measuring and fitting was done by mail. When the dress came, surprise, it didn't fit. Not even close. :( This was a couple of years ago and it's never been worn. Nothing is wrong with it, just way too big. I'd like to find a home for it.
The actual measurements of the garment are:
Waist: 37 inches
Bust: 44 inches
Length of skirt from waist to bottom: 37.5 inches
The skirt is NOT skimpy on fabric and would fit nicely over a 108" cage crinoline.
It's black cotton, darted bodice, bodice is lined with polished cotton, closes with brass hook and eyes. The skirt is hand gauged, the heming facing is also polished cotton, and has cotton hem tape. The sleeves are a "coat" style sleeve but wide enough to be worn with undersleeves. The waist, back of bodice, arm holes, neck are all piped in self fabric. Amazing amount of detail on the construction.
My mom had a very similar dress made by the same lady and serves as her "good black dress". Looks great with white undersleeves and collar.
$100 and that includes the shipping. Her labor alone cost more than that. Can send pictures.
