I have used the search function on several message boards and looked at pictures on sutler's boards and can't find an answer to this question.
The skillet handles all seem to be extra long. I know that is for safety in cooking around the campfire. The handles on my steel skillets are the same length as the width of the skillet bowl and they are riveted on. Would this be correct?

I have two skillets on my site. One on each of the following:

and a handle on this page:

Hope this will be of use.

Jim,
Great items! Are these yours or from a museum collection?

The rusty P.O.S handle is mine. The others two skillets are from private collections. I have only dug one complete skillet and it came apart before it was even out of the ground. CW skillets are hard to find. I think that is because they were used until they wore out.

Thank you for the pictures. I have one almost identical to the second one.
There are books on uniforms, arms & equipment, civilian attire, but I would like to see one on basic household items loaded with pictures.
