This past week and week end,March 25th through April 1st- Volunteers from Connecticut traveled down to Antietem Battlefield to help clear out brush from around the J. Poffenberger home, to allow the Park Service to go forward with their plans for renovation of same. If that clearing was not done, then that project was not going to happen this year. The week and weekend crew cleared a path of line of sight from the 11TH Conn monument to see the entire Burnside Bridge. The Antietam Park Service was extremely impressed with the work done by all. The driving force behind this week was the Connecticut Civil War Round Table and Volunteers from The 2nd Conn.Vol Heavy Arty, the 79Th NY and 8Th Conn. Reenactment groups. I have been told It was truly a rewarding experience and those attending would do it again in a heartbeat. Good work to all that attended!! Sometimes its the little things that matter.
