I've used the search function on this and came up empty handed. Can anyone post a picture of what a soldier back then carried oil for cleaning his weapon in? I know that some sutlers are selling tin oil cans, but I don't know if they are correct or not. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

And the Columbia Rifles Research Compendium carries an article on equipment maintenance which addresses the very question of what oil was carried and how.
