145th Anniversary of the Battle for Davis’ Mills
October 5-7, 2007 at Michigan City, Mississippi
The Battles for Davis’ Mills, hosted by the Burton’s Sugar Farm, will be held on 650 acres of pasture land that features ponds, woods, hills, and valleys to screen troop movements. This is a campaigner’s dream site. This year we will have earthworks built mimicking those that were held by the Federals in December, 1862. Friday there will be a School Day for kids. Saturday will feature camp life, drills, picket duty, and other demonstrations for the public followed by a scripted battle at 2:00 PM. Sunday will also feature a scripted battle at 1:00 PM. A military ball is also scheduled Saturday night featuring the 52nd Regimental String Band. Authenticity competitions are featured as well and awards given Saturday night at the ball. On Sunday, the public is invited to participate in the Church Services.
The reenactment will highlight two battles, the December 21, 1862 battle which was a part of Maj. General Earl Van Dorn’s raid in North Mississippi and the June 12, 1864 that highlights Lt. General Nathan Bedford Forrest’s pursuit of the Federals after the his success at Brices’ Crossroads. Usual anemities provided (wood, hay, water), a Friday night meal for reenactors and powder rations for artillery that pre-register by September 15, 2007. Proceeds will be going to the Beauvior Relief Fund for the restoration of Confederate President Jefferson Davis’ last home that was damaged in hurricane Katrina.

Please beat the rush and pre-register by September 15, 2007. There is a $5.00 registration fee and a spectator fee (TBA). Walk-ons after September 15, 2007 will have to pay $10.00 at the Gate. I thought this thread could use a bump since we're only a month away.

Also, will be discussing a tactical that is in the works on the event site in March. Hope to see everyone there.

Cleburne's Division is making plans to attend. I've heard great things about the ground up there and the battles.....looking forward to it.

Ladies and Gents,

The Jeff Davis Guard did their last work weekend in preperation for the Event. We spent the day cleaning on the campsites and most important, adding to the earthworks. The south end of the works has been re-enforced with about ten to twelve logs. The site looks great. Hope to see you there.
