A period fashion show entitled "From the Pages of Godey’s 1862" is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, March 3 at the Gettysburg Hotel in Gettysburg, PA. Admission is FREE.

The event, which is sponsored by “The Captain’s Lady,” features the clothing of award-winning period seamstress Robin Stokes. Dresses of fashionable sheer fabrics will be showcased, along with silk day dresses and "a la mode confections" for that period wedding or ball.

The audience will be treated to popular melodies of the era, courtesy of pianist Lenny Entrabartolo. Bonnets by Beverly Lister will make an appearance.

As an added attraction, there will also be a drawing for a Robin Stokes original, complete with custom fitting. (Come inspect the dress in person -- you must be present to win!)

Note: As many of you know, Robin has taught historic costuming in Gettysburg, and has researched and constructed numerous Civil War outfits that have won national awards, including the North-South Skirmish Association’s coveted Delaney. Her work has also been featured in documentaries for PBS, the History Channel, and the National Park Service, and most recently, in “Christmas and the Civil War” for the Discovery Channel. Her historic reproductions have appeared in various Civil War exhibitions at historical societies throughout New Jersey. The Windham Fabric Company is even showcasing apparel she researched and made in its current New York City marketing campaign.
