While cleaning my Smith Carbine with a three piece metal rod from one of the sutlers and complaining about how there is not one correct field cleaning kit on the market for any of the breech loading carbines, a friend asked me what one looked like. I showed him two of the original thonged "Sharps" type pull through cleaning brushes I own, the wrench and a few other tools. The pull through brush caught his attention, and he asked to borrow one. I was rewarded a couple days later with a heavy leather thong with a pinned brass tip threaded for 10/32 to fit our modern black powder cleaning brushes and mops. I have tried this pull through on all my breech loaders and am quite pleased with the results.
I was asked to post this on the Forums and see if there is any interest in this from any of the breech loader shooters / owners. If enough interest is expressed, I will list a contact e-mail address in Sutlers Row and anyone interested can place an order. This might be a good thing for the Cav guys who have breech loaders and any Berdans with the Sharps Rifle.
