I was going to post these pictures on the previous thread on pistol question but it may be too hard to search for later if someone wants to look at these pictures again. One of my friends has the effects of his ancestor who was an officer in the 2nd Conn. Heavy Artillery. This regiment was called into the field by Grant during the overland campaign of 1864.This is part of his effects. There are mostly .36 cal bullets and one or two packs of .44 cal. All have combustable cartridges. All are bullets are conical in shape. the packages contain wooden blocks into which one cartridge is inserted into each compartment drilled into the wood. I don't think all the contents of the big box, especially the boxes of caps and the loose bullets without cartridges are period. Just the packages shown.
