Hello,
I was wondering if anyone here could tell me what is the correct process of re-shaping a felt slouch hat. I have used the search and could find nothing on it except that it can be done.
Thanks much,
Gary

Buy an old tea kettle at Goodwill and use it to heat and soften the felt. Not too much, be careful. Clean it with a soft clothing brush and then slowly and carefully reshape it. Put it somewhere it won't be disturbed until it dries.
Always put your hat down on its crown, upside down. This will keep the brim from getting out of shape.
Do a Web search for "hat care" or "reshaping a hat".

Tim Bender of T.P. & H has a section on his website which shows how to set up a steaming/reshaping apparatus.

You can also use a steam iron and an ironing board for the brim. I use a dress-maker's ham for the crown. I reblock my hats all the time (I've done one twice in two months). You won't hurt the hat, and it's the best thing for it after a rainstorm.
