Hey. just wondering if anyone knows of an option for a friend of mine and me...we are looking at putting an 11th NY Fire Zouave impression together. the uniform part is taken care of, what I want to know about is a couple things...first of all a vintage (replica) fire badge from 1860's. prefferably the new york area..anyone that can make these at a reasonable price? also looking for company letters to put on the hat. None of the sutlers sell "Z" because there were no company Z's back then. but the 11th had then on their hats (Company letter then 1Z under that for "First Zouave") so if anyone knows of a line on those or someone who can make them for small price. Lastly, not as important I'm just wondering about brown/Russett leather leggins "gators". Oh and if anyone knows of decently priced reporduction 1855 Springfield muskets. Sorry for the long letter but I'd love ANY and all help. Let me know thank you e-mail: arffguy@hotmail.com

... is one Mr. Shaun Grenan. He is a spitting image of Ellsworth and is an encyclopedia on all things zouave. I saw him at the 145th manassas and he had the 1Z so he must have a contact somewhere.

I dont know if this email still works but it is the one on the zouave unit database: shaung@superpa.net

....and this might help:

Call Speros Marinos in Gettysburg. He makes large 1's and Z's which I bought from him to use at 1st Manassas last year. They are made from the original dies. If I recall, the cost was about $10.00 each. They look great!
Shaun Grenan was looking into getting the fireman badges reproduced. I don't know if they were ever completed? I'd like to get one myself!
