View Full Version : MOC musician's frock

Does anyone have any information surrounding the musician's frock in the MOC? It appears to closely resemble that of the Federal issued "birdcage", but I can't find much information around this actual style of frock. I have no doubt it's unique, and wasn't widely issued at all. I saw it in person a while back, but didn't make the connection.

Thanks for any help!

Here's hoping the link works where the picture did not. The Quartermaster Shop sells a repro, as well.

A description of it is in the Museum of the Confederacy Catalog of Uniforms, which can be purchased thru their web site. The frock in question, if memory serves me right, had been captured by Federal troops when they took New Bern. As to materials, etc. the details escape me...

Thanks, Secesh. I'm sorry the picture didn't come through, however I'm glad you knew what I was referring to!

I've looked through several of their uniform sources, but haven't come across that one in particular. I'll take a look.

The Quartermaster Shop sells a repro, and explains some of the materials used. They only make it like the original. Like you, I can't say how it was constructed in order to confirm their description of those said materials.
