Kudos to Brandon Jolly, fellow forum member and creator of of art like these flags, which he will help carry with the Iowa campaigner contingent at the BGA Shiloh event:

Can't wait to see em' in the middle, of a 150 yard wide line of battle! I'm sure Brandon wouldn't mind if you bought one of his Paddlewheeler shirts, with proceeds going to help in preservation of the originals. There's a few days left. Even if your not joining us for the ride down the Tennessee, it's still a cool shirt, for a great cause. http://www.pittsburglandingshirt.com/

Iowa does an exemplary job in caring for its own military flags, and working with other states to share those they hold in their collection.

Currently there are two flags captured from Alabama units which are on long term loan from Iowa to the Alabama Department of Archives and History. Funds raised from Alabama have paid for the conservation of those flags and they are on exhibit at Confederate Memorial Park in Marbury, Alabama.
