I'm looking for images of women from 1850-1865 west of the Mississippi for a research project. If you know of a source or have any you're willing to share, I would be most appreciative if you would let me know.

Try typing in "western 1860's wpmen" etc. in google searches. I'm sure there are some in the Library of Congress. Search engines are a neat idea.

Those who have dealt with this area in depth, as Mrs Bethke has, know that these images are scarce for this geographical designation and time period.

One unique collection, available on line and searchable by date range is that of the Minnesota Historical Society. As this is 'headwaters' territory, old maps may be necessary to determine the 'west of' designation. Those are available as well.
