I am looking a buying a M1842 musket but not sure if what brands are out there. I will only be shooting blanks and using it for reenactments. Is Armisport sutable for these actions or is there a better brand? Thanks.

I am fairly new at this, but my understanding is that Armisport makes one of the more historically accurate 1842 Springfields out there. Todd Watts at Blockade runner can do further defarbing.

If your only interested in shooting powder, I own a Veteran Arms version, that has been good to me for awhile now. Some dislike the India made muskets, and with good reason. It is hit and miss. I however trust Veteran Arms. Just my opinion. Armisport does make a good shooter, and Steve is correct. Get a smoothbore, they were more of them by far, and so much easier to clean after a event or even during one.

I found the Armi Sport made '42 to be awesome! I borrowed one for a year from a friend in my unit (9th Pa reserves co. A) before getting one myself.
