While still wrong and sad, this is not the NPS site at Point Park, but a private tourist attraction next door. Many years ago this electric map was at the base of the mountain and called the Confederama.

I remember going to the Confederama better than 30 years ago. That's really too bad. What nerve! And he even looks in the camera over the cash register. And he'll break up that group and sell it for pennies. Yeah, he needs the book thrown at him.

His face certianly is very clear in the video and I think he will be recognized. Really takes some brass "...." to steal as he did.

Cullen,

Thank you for posting this information.

I sent copies out to several friends of mine to see 'who' they might recognize in the video.
The Investigators may have more info to go on now as a result of this quest.
For those that have information they would like to add to this investigation... please contact me through the e-mail function provided by this forum. I will be more than happy to supply those of you with proper contact info.
In the mean time, lets just wait and see what happens

I wonder if the museum has any closeup pictures of the items in that case? May already be on e-bay!

I will be more than pleased to pass on any info as I can form an ongoing investigation.
Thanks for asking,

How in the world did that woman behind the counter not notice that he had something under his jacket...the outline of the case is clearly visible. They should start by firing her, then when they find this guy, he should have his hands sawn off.

Thanks, Blair. That kind of theft...well it is theft and absolutely sorry. This is not his first as the video shows.

Update... "Lookout Mountain Theft",
The Investigating Officer, Detective David McGuffee has just notified me that he has had, and I quote: "12 leads that I had have all come up short". (All fell short for various Investigative reasons.)
This Investigation is still on going and will remain so until an arrest is made.
I wish I had better news to report.

Blair

Do you have some connection with the investigation or can anyone check with the authorities? Just curious.

John,

Quick answer is yes. Anyone may check with the authorities by going through the original video information that was originaly posted. This is how I made contact with this Officer.
I am in direct contact with the Investigating Officer. Just in case this also is what you are asking about? Would you like me to introduce you?
I am currently checking with him to see if posting his contact information on this forum might be helpful to his investigation.
I did not ask this of him without sending him a copy of this thread first!
