In order to fund a new m1855 for Shiloh and keep the peace at home (“no, I guess I really don’t need yet another gun”), I offer for sale my Armisport Enfield I have had for about 5 years. I have put quite a bit of time and material into this and it is almost totally defarbed, save for replacing the Italian proof’s/SN# on the side of the barrel with British stamps. The stock has been stripped and redone with linseed oil, and has a nice dark walnut hue after years of care and oiling. The barrel has had the factory bluing removed, and I have also taken off the ‘black powder only/made in Italy’ stamp on top. Sling swivels replaced with originals, proper square-end screw escutcheons added (Lodgewood), and I have replaced the factory lockplate with the blued model from Lodgewood, marked ‘Tower’ and ‘1862’.
The weapon is in fine mechanical shape, no cracks in the stock, just a few of the normal minor bumps and dings from use in the field. I have also live fired it on two occasions at the range (using only Prichett rounds, not three ringers – no lead left-overs in the barrel) and it is a nice shooter.
I’ll also include the repro bayonet and the black leather sling that came with it when I bought it.
I am looking to get $650.00 for the Enfield. Shipping will be determined by location. If you are within 4-5 hours of Atlanta and want to meet halfway, I’ll meet you and knock off 25 bucks and we can work out the logistics. I’ll also be in the Richmond area around Christmas if you are near there, let me know and I can have it with me. I’ll do Paypal (add the 3% surcharge) or USPS Money Order. If you want to meet, then it’s cash on the barrel-head only.
Thanks, if you have any questions let me know, I’ll be limited on the computer this week so responses may be delayed, but I should be able to check once a day.
