The 1st North Carolina Volunteers/ 11th North Carolina troops are hosting the annual Battle of Fort Branch re-enactment. The event will be held November 4-6 and is great way to close out the campaigning year. All branches are invited to attend, but a bounty is being offered for the boys in blue with at least 10 rifles. Highlights of the event include a non-spectator tactical on a very spacious array of land, 2 spectator battles, and a the rare oppurtunity to visit a real original Confederate earthwork fort. The site has a very nice musem with all of the Forts orignal artilery. A meal will be provided by the commissary of the 11th consisting of Southern style bbq with all of the trimmings! I heard the fort was pretty trashed by Irene. How does it look?

The fort did take a pretty good beating from Irene. She took down alot of trees, but we have been working hard to get it ready for the event. Good news is there will be plenty of good firewood!

We went down to the Fort again today and cut down several trees and built up the forts breast works! Still accepting registrations of all sorts!
