The old "Confederate Sketchbook" had one in it; the Blair Royal cap, if I remember correctly. For a while, it seemed to be the only kepi out there on the reproduction market. I made one from the sketchbook, and remember it not coming out as well as I would've liked in the translation to by head size (but then one kepi is hardly a real practice). There's a reason the cost of professionally made kepis is so high in terms of the labor.
BTW, where does one get blue gray on hemp jean? That sounds like something I'd like.

Period Impressions #810 is their 1858 Forage cap that also has instructions for the Kepi. Easy pattern too.
Here is one place that has it: http://www.umvmco.com/Patterns.htm
