Looking for Infantry units to portray the Orleans Guard Battalion for the 150th Battle of Shiloh (Armies of Tennessee Event)

The Orleans Guard Battalion was a Confederate unit that wore dark blue uniforms at the start of the War. During the first day of the Battle of Shiloh they were fired on by their own troops thinking they were Union. On the second day of Battle the Orleans Guard wore their jackets inside out, revealing their white lining.

For the 150th Anniversary of the Battle of Shiloh, this Friendly Fire incident will be recreated. On Saturday’s battle (March 31st, 2012) the Orleans Guard Battalion will march to the field and be fired on by their fellow Confederates. On the second day’s battle they will wear the uniform jackets inside out revealing the white lining.

Uniform requirements are simple, and accepting of both Mainstream and Progressive Reenactors. A dark blue kepi, sky blue trousers with braces, white undershirt, and a dark blue wool jacket with Louisiana State buttons and white (preferably silk) lining, and brogans will be required for the uniform. Accoutrements are to be basic Infantry accoutrements, but the buckle to be a plain brass Militia style buckle.

We are in need of more units and individuals to participate in the friendly fire incident. This is your chance to preserve history by giving a visual interpretation of this historic event. Let us honor the memory of the Boys of ’61.

150th Battle of Shiloh Registration is only $10, with pre-registration ending on February 1st, 2012. Walk-Ons will be allowed.

Event Address is 145 Possum Trot Road, Counce, Tennessee.
