Thanks to someone deciding they needed my bayonet more than me recently at Manassas/Bull Run, I'm in need for a replacement 1816 bayonet. I had a couple lined up but haven't worked out, so I would like to match up a good original with my original 1816/22 conversion. Doesn't have to be minty, just servicable. Let me know price and condition (pics a plus) at Ind18th@aol.com. I'm also up for some trades, and would be happy to a make and trade a good high-end handsewn shirt like a pleated front, embroidered battleshirt, laborer's overshirt, etc.

Check out this one, "19655 U.S. Model 1816 Bayonet for M1816 Flintlock and percussion conversion muskets - A well above average example that has been gently cleaned. Only markings are US deeply struck on the face of the blade. Some mild welding/forging flaws are visible in that area as well. This is the classic M1816 design with the flat faced blade having a small flute about half the distance from the tip, and the prow or beak point. The socket has the bridge over the slot, and the “T” slot. Overall about fine plus with a pleasing dull steel gray appearance and no pitting or patina. $195.00" at: http://oldguns.net/catedw.htm. The photos are at: http://oldguns.net/pix/19655.jpg.
Here's another, "U.S. 1816 musket bayonet. $225.00 Item# MEW962 at:http://www.collectorsfirearms.com/admin/product_details.php?itemID=24663.

Thanks for those links, I hadn't seen those when looking. I think I've got the line on one now, so I'll post when it comes in if I still need one after that.

Ross,
Check out Tim Prince with College Hill Arsenal. I saw him yesterday the the Marietta gun show and I think he had some at lower prices than above.

Thanks Matt, he was my first place to look. I'm "balling on a budget" here, so was trolling around for some deals first before going the usual route.

I picked one up at 1st Manassas that was just lying around in a scabbard near the 2nd MISS troops.
Naw, I'm just joshing. Did not make 1st Manassas, but somebody who did has that bayonet.

All water under the bridge now. Our mutual California pard has sent me a decent replacement and life goes on...
