Up for sale is one new citizen's sack coat, worn by a dummy for 4 months - it was sewn for my museum's Civil War exhibit and has been worn by a faceless mannequin. It is of black medium weight wool, lined in homespun cotton and muslin sleeves, and has machine sewn long seams, but all visable stitching is done my hand. It is sized 48-50, has well sewn keyhole buttons and antique brass acorn buttons. Priced at $160 shipped Priority, however it has to remain on the mannequin in the exhibit until May 27th, and then it can go out (thus the reduced price from my normal garments). If you can wait a couple of weeks and need an excellent civilian multi-purpose garment in the basic black, this is the one for you. Questions or "I'll take it" by PM or email Ind18th@aol.com. Paypal preferred at ross4thUSInfy@aol.com, but checks/money orders taken cheerfully as well due to the wait time for shipping. Find pictures here:

Had a couple questions about this coat, so to answer here, the sleeve length is regular, and it was made from the Homespun Patterns civilian sack coat pattern, but I altered the big baggy sleeves to be more streamlined at the elbow and forearm. There is slight sleep capping and the shoulder, and all visable stitching, inside and out, is handsewn. The black wool is a medium weight kersey and the lining is a lightweight homespun cotton, making it a good 3 season coat (or 4 seasons with an overcoat). I'd be keeping this for myself if I didn't already have a black coat.

Ross coats looks great. I recognized the ground cloth in the third picture. Looks familiar. People jump on this!
