Reproduction. of the "Fort Smith Jacket" that Hindman issued to Arkansas Troops in mid 1862. The only known photograph of one of those jackets matches this pattern, it was made of undyed cloth with a sky blue collar with six wood buttons and it had the same pocket on the left side. The jackets were labeled "Fort Smith" jackets because they were manufactured in that city out of materials which came from the penitentiary system in Texas. It is Trans Mississippi jacket that is good for a mid war to late war, especially after it is good and broken in, impression.
It is made from a Charlie Child's pattern out of Ben Tart undyed jean wool. The collar trim is made out of real old family heirloom weavers blue on tan cassimere. It has six wooden buttons. All details done by hand. Lined with ticking in the body and shirting in the sleeve liners. It will fit a 46 loose, and a snug 48.
