In getting my gear ready for the season, I wish to construct some field tourniquets. I have found the buckles, but am now looking for the canvas. I went to my local fabric store and the duck canvas they sell looks too flimsy. What type of canvas would have been used?

Milk Creek has tourniquets. You might want to check them out.

I can get the proper canvas in a long strip from Hobby Lobby in my neighborhood. I just sew the buckle on. Works great. The canvas looks like a thin canteen strap. Perfect size.

What are you using for buckles? Suspender buckles?

The buckles are period correct and available in brass from River Junction Trade Company in Iowa. they are $1.20 each or $10.00 for a pack of 10.
DIRT CHEEP way to make your own!
