Folks,
I am currently looking for a ride to the 150th Firing onto Sumter between April 8th-13th.I will be with Comp B. 1st SC,though if I could get to the registration point I'm sure I could manage a way to Fort Moultrie.I am in SE KY,about 25 miles on 25E from Cumberland Gap National Park, thought I can came it to either Knoxville or Lexington,KY.Needless to say,I will pay for my share of the gas.And since I have relatives who live either in Monk's Corner and Columbia,I'm sure we could bunk up with them for a night if need be.If you can help out, please e-mail me at tenfed1861@yahoo.com or send me a message on the forum.
Thank You.

I can't help you with a ride but doncha want to stay a little longer and go to the Fort Sumter Soiree on the Yorktown on the 16th? Once in a lifetime experience....a Civil War dance on an aircraft carrier with music by the Emmy-award winning band Unreconstructed. Check it out at www.fortsumtersoiree.com

Don't mind me, I'm just recruiting. :D

My family and I are actually going to be out there for the Fort Sumter stuff for about a week. Our reenacting unit (engineers) is supposed to be camped out near Patriot's Point. We're looking forward to it!

Dear Harplady,
I expect to be in Charleston for the "Firing on Ft. Sumter" program and, if all goes according to plan, I will be camping out at Patriots Point.
I would dearly love to visit the dance on the Yorktown and take a few photos of the proceedings, for possible publication in the Civil War News.
Can you please contact me at Jzangroniz@comcast.net so we can coordinate a visit?
Thank you.
Julio

Okay, all you dancers knock it off, recruit on your own thread, and give the soldier a chance to find a ride. There's no midnight dancing if there's no soldiers standing midnight pickett ........

Cullen, write Silas Tackitt directly through this board as he may know of folks traveling from further west. Too bad you're not a Minnesota Federal, as a good sized carpool is running right through Kentucky heading for the Land of Lutefisk, Raising the First Volunteers tendered for Federal service.
