‘Battle of Belmont Plateau’ - Civil War Reenactment

Belmont Grove, West Fairmount Park, Philadelphia, PA
August 19 – 20 - 21 2011

LIVING HISTORY & BATTLE REENACTMENT – Commemoration of the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War
Portraying: Authentic Civil War Battles and ‘Living History featuring Philadelphia’s participation.
This is a rematch between Neshaminy commanders, General Tony Daniels (Federal) and Colonel Bill Rodman (Confederate) and is the first Civil War battle reenactment ever in Philadelphia. The field and camping facilities are outstanding. The field is very large, contoured with woods and trails adjacent. Camping and parking are in fully secure fenced and wooded area with water, public toilets and parking lot. Ideal facilities for infantry, cavalry and artillery. We have the full cooperation of both park and city officials and roads adjacent to our camp and part of battlefield will be closed. This is an opportunity to bring our history to an entirely new audience of interested people. The event committee has included primarily active reenactors and our concerns are at the forefront of everyone’s consideration. The event coordinators truly appreciate the many contributions of the reenactors. Check out the first website below to see the map. Our field is to the north of Army Road and east and south of Belmont Mansion Drive with woods at the far east side of the field. Look across Belmont Mansion Road to see the historic mansion to the northeast and beyond is the secure parking lot and large fenced in campground. There are nearby stables and we should have equine medical and farrier services available.
This is a must see event which is intended to be held yearly through the Sesquicentennial 2011-15. Registration details to be provided shortly but the fee will be tiny (probably $5) and all net proceeds to be contributed to historic preservation. The event is funded through independent fundraising events.

How come Bill's only a Colonel?;)

If I can get 1,500 Cornfeds to show up, I'll break down and buy myself a set of general's stars.
