My family saddlery, The Geo. Lawrence Co. established in 1857 in Portland, Or made large quantities of military horse gear. I ran the leather shop for 30 years when we made holsters, ct'g. belts, etc. for the sportsman. The business ceased in 1985 and I retired with a large collection of Co. artifacts, including some McClellan sadddlery and related horse hardware that I recently uncovered.

FYI, I now have for sale on Ebay 3 styles of buckles, photos of which I attach. I'll also attach a photo of the GLCo. showing that we were serious suppliers of McClellan leathergoods.

The auction will be over Sun, 10-31. I hope to have more and different military hardware on Ebay as the winter progresses and will try to keep you informed.

To find them on Ebay search as follows: #1 item: "U.S. Military Horse Bridle...", both #2 & #3- "U.S. McClellan Saddle or......" (Same order as the photos)

Sincerely,

Bill Lawrence (Great Grandson of Geo. Lawrence & Aug. Buermann, bit and spur maker) Bill3rd@teleport.com
