View Full Version : Retreat From Gettysburg

All,

The National Park Service, in conjunction with the town of Williamsport, MD will be hosting a "Retreat from Gettysurg" living history and march on July 9th-11th.

All are encouraged to participate, and there are no registration fees.

There will be firing demonstrations, artillery demonstrations, a screening of "10 Days and Still They Come;" a Russ Richards film, a small skirmish and a confederate march from Williamsport to Falling Waters, WV (5 miles).

I know this is short notice, but come on out and help build an event with a lot of potential and town/NPS support.

I plan on attending, there will be 6-7 of us. Do you need blue or grey?

Honestly, bring both if you can. I know we will have more rebs than feds so I'm telling my guys to bring both.

The march on sunday is confederate only, so bring grey for a nice walk across the river.

I went to the website, but could not get the buttons to open for more information. As I mentioned, I would be very interested in this in the future. We just have a conflict that weekend. I will look forward to hearing how it goes this year.

We'd love to start seeing you guys at the event, but I understand that this year is booked. We got in the game a little late. I think there are 5 events in MD that weekend. We'll talk at Wellbourne!

Just a bump, we could use a few more federals (or guys who want to bring both kits) to flesh things out a bit.

hey there.. just dropped in to see if you may have some suggestions for me i am stuck in statesville NC and am trying to figure out a way to get to gettysburg for the event this week i know iw as invited by a unit to join up with them for the event if there is someone from the south going up there that could take me there i'll help with the gas etc just let me know whom i can contact on that thanks for the help

Looking forward to this weekend, bringing 6 guys to go Federal on Saturday. What are the numbers looking like?

they dont look too bad for a weekend with 6 events within two hours distance (Gilmour's raid, Monocacy, Rose Hill, Pitzer's woods, and Fort Delaware).

It's looking to be about 30 a side, and more will be showing up for the march on sunday.

I'll be there a little after 7 on friday, since i couldn't get off work.
