Enfield problem

Hey gents,
I went to go clean the bore of my enfield 3 bander out. And when i went to put some cloth on the nipple i noticed, the hammer doesnt cock when i pull it back?? the trigger is limp like it had just been fired, but the hammer does not cock no matter how far i pull it back...?? can anyone offer an idea on what i should do??

Personally, I would take the lock off, and make sure the mainspring is functioning properly. Also check the tumbler to be sure that is moving smoothly.

Take off the lock.

Seeing that it won't cock at all, I would think something is wrong with the sear or searspring. Something is preventing the sear from engaging the notches in the tumbler.

Perhaps I should go over a few terms to help you better understand.

The bar that is in contact with the trigger is the sear, and the searspring keeps it under tension. The tumbler is the thing is the middle with two notches and is connected to the hammer and there should be a piece of metal called a fly over the sear. The mainspring is the large spring that powers the tumbler.
