View Full Version : Authentic Campaign Company in East Texas\Houston Area
Everyone,
My name is Chris Parker. I am looking for recruits for an authentic campaigning company in the East Texas\Houston area, or really, anyone from anywhere is welcome as long as you can make the drills and the events.
Our intitial impression will be Confederate of the western\Trans-Mississippi theater, with a secondary impression being one of western Federal.
Authenticity in dress, drill, camping, and at events will be stressed and adhered to. If you are like minded please contact me for more details.
Cell phone: 936-329-5898, if I miss your call leave a message and I will call you back.
e-mail: cparker34@hotmail.com
Respectfully,
Chris Parker

Terre,
I realize Texas is a big place and there are lots of folks living within its borders, but I figure you could get all the authentic campaigners in the state on a 72 seat school bus and still have room for two long horn steers, a couple of goats and four kegs of beer. Of course, there might be some hiding in the sewers of Austin or in the woods near Jewett.

Could you post a link with your unit standards?
Eli,
No website, not that far along yet. If you like, send me an e-mail; I would enjoy discussing what I have in mind.
Respectfully,
Chris Parker

Why does everyone and their uncle have to start their own unit/mess? I mean when you've got the Texas Ground Hornets in the same state, why not join their ranks instead of further fragmenting the progressive side of the hobby?
This is a big problem IMHO with the prog. side in the past few years with numerous new groups. It is near impossible to get all the units, orgs, messes, on the same page just like the mainstream side (events too close together, brass who don't want to drop rank, etc...) I mean if you want to develop a tight knit group of friends that you "mess" with in a larger more established group; no problem.
And if you say, "so we can have a group at our local events". Why not skip the farb fests and pool your resources to make the more quality EBUFU and National events? You can most times fall in with any group you like as long as you have a decent kit and the always needed correct attitude. An by that, you can meet more folks who share your passion (or im my case obsession) to see nothing but good looking kits and masses of troops.
It seems to me that this hobby is getting more and more un-organized by the day.

There was a time when we absorbed the Upstart Mess and the Wretched Mess with grand plans forming a grand army of the Trans-Mississippi of the south and merging with Aufmuth's grand army of the Trans-Mississippi of the north. Well, none of that worked. The Upstarts fizzled. The Wretched Mess proved more of a mess than wretched and no grand merger was accomplished. So we figured we could either put on our own events like BGR and IPW or go to someone elses EFUBU. So, I guess I am agreeing with Mr. Shot. As for Captains or grand Colonels of the highest order, we leave that to someone else except when we go as bushwhacker or partisans and then it is leadership by survival of the fittest.

Moderator hat on: Regardless of one's personal views of multiple units, messes, and overhead commands, this is the Recruiting Folder, where discussion should be limited to the recruiting for the gentleman's unit. If you have further comments or questions, limit them to PM's to that person or you are welcome to begin further discussion via a new thread. Thank you and we now return to our regularly sceduled discussion...
