Help finding a CW Marine

I've searched this forum and am looking for a database listing Civil War Marines, but there doesn't seem to be anything available.

Specifically, I'm looking for information an a man named Davis Page Smith. He was from Pennsylvania, born in 1839 and died in 1916. He's buried in Chillicothe, IL and his tombstone has the following inscribed on it: Davis Page Smith, Marine, Co H 42, 1839-1916.

In 1880 he was living in PA with a wife and two children. At some point he moved to Illinois.

I believe the family has ordered military records from the archives but that will take a while to get to them.

Any help in locating a database that give more than we have a the moment would be appreciated.

I've been looking for information on 5 Marines for years. I have the document showing the last ship on which they served and their muster out paparwork. And, have found the Navy didn't take very good care of their records after the CW. I've even called Quantico, Paris Island and the Marine Corps Museum in Virginia. Nothing. I wish you the best. Remember, the Marines were in the Navy when you're looking.

Sorry I can't help you, I checked the Pennsylvania ARIAS (Archives Records Information Access System) and didn't find a Davis Page Smith. But this site is good for doing research on Pennsylvania soldiers. Here is the link for those who want it http://www.digitalarchives.state.pa.us/archive.asp
This list isn't all inclusive, so just because a name isn't there doesn't mean they weren't there...

Anyway I have the name written down so if I come across any info I'll let you know...
