Has anyone heard if this event will happen this next month? I've been told no but then again I've heard that it will. So what is it?

I don't know who you have heard it from that it is still on, but I have heard nothing "official" either way.

I would assume I will hear something about it at this weekend's battalion meeting.

According to an email on the Indiana Brigade's Yahoo group from the First Sgt. of the 14th Indiana which hosts the event it's on. It's also posted on their site: http://coa14thind.org/

Guess we will all find out for sure this coming weekend at Battalion meeting. Seems with the Colts in SB most would rather stay home and watch that, so I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't happen

With an event scheduled to commence in two weekends from now, you'd know if it had been cancelled. Although some participants may decide to watch some contest on television about an oblong, inflated bladder, I have serious doubts about any entity worth its salt cancelling for that reason.

I've got no dog in this particular event as I've never been to Indiana, and I don't know any of the people coordinating the event ; however, I have been involved in the coordination of a few events in other states. If you are having second thoughts about attending, don't attend. Please don't ruin some organization's event by starting rumor that an event must be cancelled because no one has said it isn't.

I've never been to the Pac NW. I'm missing out on the Sierra's and you're missing out on the Indy 500 and the 2010 Superbowl Champs!! :D

I'm missing the Sierras, too, also as they are in Northern California. We have the Cascades where that McClellan guy spent much time trying to find a pass through it. You may the Indy 500, but we have slug races. As for the next champions of the sport involving the carrying of an oblong inflated bladder, there's a team in the South which might have a word or two to say about that premature proclamation.

My bad on the mountains... I ain't much on geography west of the Mississippi. ;)

Re: Bladder sports...
Brees did such a fine job with that team across the river when he was in college, it will pain me to see him lose. ;)
Go Colts!!! :D

Sir, I never started a rumor. I have asked and have been told that it wasn't on. And then I heard from another source it was on. Just was wanting the correct answer. As far as ruining something, how can I ruin something by asking a serious question? And btw, Saints wont beat the Colts

That's how rumors get started. I'm not saying you are rumor mongering, but someone may see part of your post and go off half cocked. All it takes is someone telling another, "hey, I saw something on a forum about the event being cancelled because of xxx," and away it goes.

When questions like this arise, don't post here first. Go up your chain of command instead. That's why it exists.

But when the chain of command doesn't know, sometimes you have to go to outside resources...

This event is next weekend, and we didn't hear about it "officially" until this afternoon. I had also heard it as "on again and off again"...but it was cleared up today at the BN staff meeting.
Although honestly? This close to the event, plus watching the Colts and the Saints that weekend...I don't see many folks attending...
