An authentic US and CS Navy event, 145th Annivarsary of the Battle of Mobile Bay. Includes School of the Sailor ashore and afloat, events for the public, and memorial activities. Exact costs will be figured in January. Post here or PM for further information, and see the attached handbills.

Thats got alot of potential. I was just talking to someone the other day that I'm surrounded by water down here but haven't had a quality naval event in years. I'll pass this on to the Buzzard Club and USS Fort Henry guys and see if we can put together a road trip.

Many thanks. Now if I can only get a kitchen pass to be there...

Since I can't seem to find the edit button - this is the 146th, not the 145th. Will have updated handbills as soon as editing again becomes possible.

Hallo!

Herr Bob...

IIRC, the edit button vanishes after an hour.

Would love to attend but after driving from Michigan to Maine and back during the 3rd week in July a road trip to Mobile Bay is pushing this old sailor's attention span. LOL

Looks like planning for this event has fallen through. Unless someone down South (or elsewhere) can take over, it appears this is a non-event. How tragic. Anyone up for preliminary planning for 2012 150th?

Bob

Shoot me a phone number and a time frame in my private message box--I need to hear your vision articulated on this, and that's much easier on the phone.

Some years back, an organization I still carry membership in put on naval battle involving both forts and a mixture of authentic and well, not so much, ships. Those contacts and infrastructure are still in living memory and may provide some needed help to you.

I may not be the only woman who has ridden a bosun's chair from a period steam launch to a three masted schooner, hat, hoops, polanaise traveling dress, and all, in a right fair chop, but I imagine there are scant few such still living.

thats sad to hear. There just aren't that many good naval events in the deep south, and I'd gotten the vacation time already...
