As you may have already heard, the event this weekend at Goldsborough Bridge has been cancelled. Heavy rains over the past month or so, combined with monsoon-like conditions the past two weekends, last night, and this morning, have brought the ground past the saturation point. At this time the field is impassable to artillery and cavalry (even infantry would have a problem) and the parking area is problematic. We deeply regret having to call the event, but don’t want participating units to come to a muddy mess and be miserable. It is our intention to put on the best possible event for not only the public, but for reenactors. We are reenactors ourselves and have been to events that should have been called and weren't. We don't want that situation here. Sometimes the weather just won't cooperate; this is one of those times. PLEASE LET EVERYONE IN YOUR UNIT KNOW ABOUT THE CANCELLATION as soon as you can.
We will re-schedule and announce the date as soon as we decide on one. Since we are so close to Christmas it will not be until sometime in 2010 in any event. As for registrations, we can a) refund your money or b) hold as a credit until the re-scheduled event, whichever you wish. Please let me know and we will be happy to follow your wishes.
We look forward to having you on the field with us in drier times. Meanwhile, we can all spend a little extra time with our families around Christmas. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me. Thank you, and Merry Christmas.
