"According to Sesame Street Magazine, October 15th is National
Grouch Day - a day for all Grouches to celebrate their way of life.

A Grouch's mission in life is to be as miserable and grouchy as
possible, and pass that feeling on to everyone else. Only then will
a Grouch feel in touch with his or her world and be happy. Yet, even
though a Grouch may show happiness at anyone's misfortune (including
his or her own), a Grouch would never admit to being happy. Such is
the stability of a Grouch's life: so balanced, and yet so
unbalanced."

It is also the final date to file extended individual tax returns for 2008.

There is a reason why my birthday is on National Grouch Day, particularly this one being the 4-0

Yes, and the final opportunity for the return to go electonically occured in my office exactly 39 minutes ago. Folks we've been calling for months walked in the door 5 minutes later. It is their turn to be grouchy.

Oh and for those mailing a paper return the PO closes at 4:00. Not that I'm going to do one.

Ross,

You probably have to work on it to acheive elite grouch status.

Clients think we have some kind of magic "Pixie Dust" that we just throw over their information and Bingo a tax return appears. Most of the returns we file this time of year are the ones that were waiting for their Hedge Fund K-1s or they just don't care when they file.
These are same people every year even though we tell them if not in by October 1st it may not be done in time.

National Grouch Day: That must be why I picked today to counsel one of my nonperfoming employees that if he didn't improve he was going to be replaced. I'm going to go back to my nice warm can now.
