wagons came in a blue color that was supposed to be fairly close to what today is known as "Williamsburg" blue. That is for wagons ordered by the Army to army specifications.
However contractor and requisitioned civilian wagons came in a variety of colors mostly barn red. Red was preferred because of the durability of the color.
The demands of the Army was so great that a great many civilian wagons were acquired to meet the transportation demands. You can see this in pictures of wagon parks by people like Brady and Gardener.
There were very few 'mass-production' manufacturers of wagons even up to the invention of the automobile the vast majority of wagons were manufactured locally by small operations. John Deere was an example of a 'mass' producer of wagons from about 1880 onward.
