Hey I'm looking for info about this unit, AKA the MMB or mississippi marine brigade.

I heard that they had the standard Federal uniform, for the most part. Though I heard too that they had a wheel cap with a green band.

Does anyone have a photo of an ENLISTED man from this unit or perhaps a letter or report talking about how these soldiers looked?

I'm looking ONLY for info about the Enlisted men and there uniforms. NOT the officers OR the history of the unit.

Thanks

They were mostly armed with the Spencer .56-50 rifle (not carbine), which is available from Taylor's.

They were equipped and uniformed as infantry but may have had a special cap, either the Navy style pilot's cap or a wheel cap with a green band edged with gold; it may have had a badge of crossed anchors too.

There's a book on Amazon, Ellet's Brigade: The Strangest Outfit of All by Chester G. Hearn that may give you a lot of information you're looking for.
