Greetings to each and everyone of you. My name is Scott Henson, I am a History teacher and co-sponsor of the History Club at Northern Nash High School in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. We are a primarily urban school that is located in a suburban setting. This is the first year of our History club and we are trying to expose the kids to things that they would otherwise not have access to. I would love to get a couple units to come to our school and demonstrate life during the civil war. We have a perfect place for an encampment that is a wooded setting with a large open grassy area. The school is located just 3 minutes off of Interstate 95 about 135 miles from Richmond, Virginia. It is my understanding that there is a large re-enactment taking place to honor the anniversary of Spotslyvania and I would love it if I could get some units that may be headed to that event to stop by for our event. If anyone is interested, please email me at mshenson@nrms.k12.nc.us with your location of origin, and dates that you would be available. If anyone has any information about units in my area, please reply to this posting. I appreciate your help with this and I look forward to hearing from you! Huzzah!

Tentative Dates for the Muster would be April 30th-May 1st (a Thursday-Friday)

I should also mention that the vast majority of the students at our school have never seen history brought to life the way that an encampment of re-enactors can do it. I previously worked at Conner Prairie in Indiana and have some experience with living history. I would love for my students to get exposed to this and I can speak for everyone in our department that we would all appreciate it very much if a couple units (or more!) could make it so that we could have a good event. If things went well, I would love to make this an annual event at our school, one that the schools surrounding us could come and take part in. Thank you very much for your consideration!
