If you can give me a little more information into what type of unit you are looking for, I can give you little better idea of of the units and contact information for those units that are located in the Madison area.
You have your choice of infantry, artillery, cavalry and civilian groups that are all close to and within an hour of Madison.
You also have a choice of mainstream, progess, and hardcore units.
I see from your signature that you were with the 1st MI.
Please let me know your interests and I will glading be more specific with my information.
2nd WI Volunteer Infantry Association
Hard Head Mess
Regimental Volunteer Band of Wisconsin

I have many varied interests. Artillery has always been one of them. I have previously stuck to an infantry impression, but would liketo expand my horizons and try new things. If you have any need for dismounted cavalry that would be interesting too. I most of all enjoy the camaraderie of hanging out\drilling with interesting educated people!

Here is a partial list of organizations in your area. Looking at their websites will give you a good feel for their philosophy. Enjoy and hope to see you in the field here in Wisconsin.
Old Northwest Volunteers

Also if you want a list of local events send me a pm and I can get one together for you.

I know it has been mentioned, but I would highly recommend any of the member units/messes in the Old NorthWest Volunteers (ONV).
