The family and I are on an extended weekend trip from NC to DC. We've been stopping at all the Civil War museums along the way, and The Museum of The Confederacy was awesome. It was my first time. I was like a four year old in a candy shop.
Anyways to the point....I was going through and came across this "thin" looking "jacket". It was a battleshirt that had brass buttons, collar and cuff trim, and truly appeared to be something in between a shell jacket and frock coat. I've never really looked into battleshirts, but the ones I've come across haven't looked like this. Does anyone know of a present day sutler that makes battleshirts like these?

And the disappointment sets in........now. No I didn't, Like I said we we're on our way to D.C. Now we're in D.C., and on Monday we'll be passing back through Richmond, so it's no problem to stop back in and post them after that.

Even if he is I am not when I say I would be very interested in seeing a picture of this battle shirt. I will look for sutlers for you that might sell such an item.

From the MOC's 'Catalogue of Uniforms', this battle shirt was worn by Pvt. Kennedy Palmer of the 13th Va. at 1st Manassas. From the description: light blue wool flannel cloth with red wool collar and cuffs, white polished cotton lining, no facings or edging in sleeves, gilt buttons stamped with leaf pattern, no backmarks

That is it right there. This actually turned out well that someone else had a photo because I wasn't able to stop back into the museum.
