I'm going to attempt to build a full-scale Federal Coehorn mortar. I've looked everywhere I can think on the net and tried the search function here, but can't seem to find any accurate dimensions on the base/sled part of these. All kinds of sizes on the actual tube itself, but nothing on the base. Can anyone help me out here?
On a side note, due to the lack of fortifications to besiege here in Indiana,:rolleyes:this will not be used at reenactments. I just wanted to be the first kid on my block to own one.
Thanks in advance,

...nope sorry. I was looking in Round Shot and Rammers by Harold L. Peterson. He has a scaled drawing for the ten inch siege mortar carriage but not the coehorn.

First question is: Is it a twelve or twenty-four pounder?
I'm guessing the former, but.....

This is actually for the 1841 24 pounder.

You can always target the covered bridges at Billie Creek, but probably only once...

I was thinking more along the lines of targeting the old guy with the irritating microphone at Mooresville...

Joe see my post in answer to Richard on firing a .36 call pistol. The site posted has a mortar thread, as well as a cannon.

I'm at work and our two 24-3b Coehorns are at home. However, approximately 30"L x 18"W x 8"H or 30"L x 17"W x 7"H.

I suggest that you try the N-SSA forum. Click on Civil War Artillery. No other site has more informed people in terms of what you are seeking. - Kevin Hanson
