While he hasn't gone down in history as a great President or anything, he was the President during one of the tougher times in American history. I think he did well as any decision was going to make one large part of the population angry. Happy 200th!

Today is President Andrew Johnson’s 200th birthday, and there are several events going on in Greeneville today to celebrate the occasion.

Between 4-6 pm, you can eat cake and other refreshments at the Towne Square Shopping Center. There will also be music and postal cachet cancellations.

Luminaries will light the Andrew Johnson National Cemetery, as a ceremonial wreath is laid on the 17th President’s grave at 6:30 pm tonight.

There will also be a display of fireworks over the cemetery at 7 pm.

Finally, from 8-9 pm, the cemetery will be open to vehicle traffic with views of 1,500 luminaries.

Even old Andy deserves to be remembered. Do you know if they're doing anything really big for Lincoln's 200th in February?

Not sure about everywhere else, but Kentucky is planning a big party:

I seem to remember that Indiana was planning something big too.
