I'm raising a Federal company for Piney Woods and a Georgia Militia company for Bummers. If you're planning on attending either or both, please consider joining up. We'll run the Rebs out of Lousiana and then turn around and run the Yanks out of Georgia.

Hey that's really on point, Mike. I had a relative Felton Seals,(several others too), that fought all through that country . I've been through quite a lot of it horseback and 4 wheelin'.
Sounds like a whole lot of webfootin' type fun! Good luck in Good hunting!

Gents,
I'm on board as Mike's 1st Sergeant and we're looking to fill out the roster. The company is growing from across the country! If you are looking for a real challenge to see what it is to be a soldier with a bunch of fellows are are dedicated to their company mates, this is the place for you.
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.
Best regards,
Will

Gents,
I am the Federal Battalion commander for the ITPW event. As Will and Mike said this "Is" the event youve always dreamed about going to. This "Is" the event that is going to allow you to feel how they felt and see what they saw as closely as we can do it today. You will carry your kit on your back marching and fighting for up to 8-10 miles a day. You will be on rotating picket all night. You will have your ammunition and food brought up by two horse and oxen drawn wagons. You will fill your canteens from freshwater streams and wells. You will fortify your positions at night and enjoy the comradery that only tired soldiers know. It is soldiering for five days in the middle of nowhere. Plain and simple it is a soldiers event. Do we want you? YES we do.
Do we need you? YES we do. We are forming a four company battalion and have room in two of the remaining company's. Mike Comers and Jeremy Powells.
Captain Comer needs you to step up. All we are asking for is the right attitude and the will to take chance on doing an immersion event like youve never experienced.
I thought I have seen it all in my 30 years of doing this hobby but when I went to BGR I knew that I had never really seen the elephant till then. Come and see it with us.
Join us for Into the Piney Woods in March.
Cheers

The original number of the active 24th Iowa engaged during the time we are portraying within the 5 company's was 130 men. We have over 75 now with a month left till registration closes. Help us make this numbers accurate as well as historically accurate. We want to replicate the original numbers in the battalion. A good slice of this event goes to preservation to.

Gents,
This is my 20th year in the hobby and I've never done an event like this. This is the last year these fine fellows will be hosting this event...
and I fear that the 150ths will soon overshadow any thoughts of an effort to repeat this in 2010 or 2011! Before "Banks Grand Retreat", it was the late 1990's when an event like this was held.
Do you really want to wait another decade?
Will you still be in the hobby?
Will you still be in shape to do an event like this?
Who knows!?!!?
This event isn't for stitch-nazi fashion plates; its for guys who really want to experience what soldiering might have been like and are willing to work hard to do it!
For those in the midwest:
We are forming a carpool of guys from Indiana and Illinois, leaving from Indianapolis and "points west", to rendezvous at Champaign, Illinois before turning south.
If you have questions, please feel free to contact me at jwickett@comcast.net
See you in Louisiana!!!!

If anyone has any questions about what they might need to know to do this event or they think they would be uncomfortable being in a new element, please don't hesitate to PM me with questions or concerns. Rest assured there will be plenty of folks more than willing to give you a hand and some of the finest NCO's in the hobby to guide you along.
This event will not only be a great reenacting experience, it will also be a wonderful learning opportunity.
We've got slots open so please feel free to take the plunge.

This event will not only give you the feeling of what the soldiers back then experienced but it will also make you a better living historian in the future. It will allow you the chance to teach new recruits things you learned at ITPW. It will allow you to tell the public in a matter of fact way some of the things that before you only read about. Join Captain Comer, Captain Powell, Captain Wickett and myself and all the men who have worked so tirelessly at this event to make it a success.
Cheers

Gents,
The close of registration for this event is February 16th. This IS the chance to get as close to what a civil war soldier felt like is. Its very easy, there are no events this year or next that can compare to ITPW. Period, no National, no two day immersion, nothing will beat ITPW. So dont kick your self for the next two years cause you decided not to go or that it was an event where people are judged. This event IS about ATTITUDE. If you have what it takes to march with us thats the main thing. If you need any help with some piece of gear you dont have, just ask. We will deliver.
COMMON GUYS, LETS GO! Join in at Piney Woods.
Cheers

We need more men in this company plain and simple. If you want to go to this event (and I don't know why you wouldn't) and can attend, then do so and join this company if you please.
I've offered to drive people, supply cartridges etc. I'm outfitting one individual who wants to attend but doesn't have the gear. I've got more gear to loan out. You need a knapsack? I've got it. You need a sack coat? I've got it. You need leathers? I've got them. You need a musket? I've got it. I'm a virtual quartermaster dept. You need cartridges because you have to fly - I'll roll them.
In short, I'll do whatever I can to help someone that wants to attend this event. So will others. But you've got to take the initiative to register and let me know what you need.
If you really want to attend this event - but have questions or doubts for whatever reason - let me know. We'll get it fixed.

Almost 900 views of this thread and I've got 2 fellows coming. How about the rest of you? Surely, there's a couple more want to have the experience. I know it can be tough to get time off etc. and it is a long event, but I guarantee a reenacting experience you will never forget. If you can pull it off, please join up - we'd be glad to have you.
