When is it?
Where is it?
Who's putting it on?

You know it's going to happen.

Maybe this is the event you want to find out about. In Virginia no less.

Dave- here you go- The official endorsed event-

Gents and Ladies,

I have received word that Washington County Visitors Bureau is sending WMHF a cash grant to help with event expenses for next years South Mountain/Antietam event ( September 7-9, 2007), and will also be supporting all advertising as well as working with WMHF to design and print brochures and other logistical aspects.

These means more funds can be donated to Preservation and Interpretation of our shared history.

The County Planning Commision and the Visitors Bureau are now behind our effort, and we really have a chance to recapture the glory of the anniversary events.

Expanding the participation to 2000 total participants, with all CS by invitiation only (limited to 800), and with the support of the Battlefield, the Town of Boonsboro, Washington County and the premier organizations in the hobby, we hope to produce an event for the ages.

However will not, I repeat not, waiver in our dedication to history, and that the event is about history and the real Boys of 61. We will build on the success of To the Gates of Washington and the Summer of '62 to produce an even better experience for those in the ranks and the attending public.

There will be several workdays this winter, with heavy equipment to once again improve the site, and much research. All help is greatly appreciated.

I for one, am truly excited.

I was looking for a Lomas(sp), Valuska(sp), Heim(sp), production that happens every year, or five...That have in the past been so , eh hem, well discussed on this and other forums.

September 2007 is full up with decent events, I don't want to see you or anyone else, well, TIC'd. Those "mega marvels" seem to pull all kinds of folks. Dr's, Lawyers, Indian Chiefs...

Not sure what the mega plan might be, or even if there is one, as WMHF has the backing of the County, and talking with local landowners, no one has committed to such an event.

Probably will be something of the sort, but I would wonder where the funds to do so might come from.

I called Mr. Lomas. He won't give me an answer. After this year's resounding success at Gettysburg, I figure he has to do something to make his money back. (Da tongue in da cheek.) You folks are way ahead of him at this point, land funds...

2000 maximum at the Loudoun Heights Antietam...800 invitation only CS max at WMHF. Doesn't look like there's room for everyone that wants to do Antietam in 07. Or, maybe there is

will you fellas be at the Loudon event? We hope to be there, as the ZDA. I'd love to get a ZDA together for a campaigner event, but we just never luck into the scenarios, or the numbers :( (though we had 40+ amalgamated zous for 140th antietam, which I loved)

As it stands now, it looks like we'll be doing the Loudoun Antietam. But, I'll have to do some reading on cavalry actions in the area. There may not be a whole lot for us to do depending on the actions/scenarios the organizers have planned (or, are planning.....Sept 07 is a long way away)

Mark -- we'll be at Louden Heights. I'm sure you'll find something for us to do.

Interestingly, there was a pretty good battle at Crampton's Gap on Sept 14 with a couple of regiments of cavalry dismounted, along with infantry. Not exactly battle day action, but.........

I guess you've never been to any of the Burkittsville events? ;) It looks like there's going to be a bunch of events in September '07 competing for participants. And, it's not even September '06. I think it's good to be on folks' radar early and often.
