I would recommend no direct links to e-bay, like the "other" forum. At times, all that is posted is "look what I have on e-bay". Just free advertising.

In the most recent case, these were items that were initially listed for sale here but for which there were no responses.

If your referring to my items that I have listed on ebay. I always list them here first and give everyone in the reenacting community to buy it at the price I would like to get for it,first. Example: leather gear/haversack and canteen,I would like to have gotten 100.00. I have way more than that tied up in it. I'm not going to give it away. So I will leave it on the board here for several days. If it don't sell I will reduce the price and put in on ebay. I will then come back here and message Mr Pritchchett to remove the original post. SO I can make a new post stating hey everything is now cheaper but its on ebay. That way out of respect, It don't seem Im taking advantage of him or the board.
Its not like Im some Ebay store advertising here on CWR for free. Ive paid my dues out on the field.
I personally don't see why this offends you? When another reenactor is just trying to make back at least half of what he has in something.

I have an opposing viewpoint on the topic. Isn’t this what the boards are for to network and point us to period items for purchase or study?

Websites like eBay, Gun Broker, Craig’s List, etc. are great tools if used properly.

If you don’t like what’s posted just move on. Another person might find the information helpful for their impression or help a buddy locate something they want.
