Can someone please tell me what style boot is considered the most accurate for a non-officer and an officer, in artillery? Thanks.

My understanding is that in Union service, there was issued a 'drivers' boot to non-officers who had that duty -- not as tall as a cavalry boot and having a noticeable front flap.

Beyond that, only brogans were issued to non-officers but of course many obtained boots with their own resources. Union officers obtained their own boots from private military supply vendors or custom-made - don't know if they had a Gov't stipend for that purpose.

On the Reb side who knows?
