Rem Day Dances

Can anybody advise where my wife and I might find some danceing on Rememberence Day in and around Gettysburg?

There are four Remembrance Day dances.

One will occur Friday evening sponsored by Joy Melcher whom many people know as the vendor "Civil War Lady." Dance mistress will be Karen Chartrand-Duffy of St Louis and the dance itself will be at the Gettysburg Hotel 9 - 1. An online flyer can be viewed at

Tickets are limited but use the phone number or other contact information on the website to determine availability.

On Saturday evening, there are three dances.

Two are small dances, one at the Gettysburg Hotel that includes dinner and another one at the VFW hall. Both of those are probably sold out by now -- the one at the Hotel usually fills within a week of tickets becoming available. However, if you want to check on either of those or the one mentioned below, go to Civil War News website, click on "Calendar" and check the events for November. All the dances, including the first one, are on the calendar along with contacts.

A large dance is held at the Eisenhower Hotel south of town. This has hundreds of attendees and in the past has been open to all. I don't remember the cost but it is usually the least expensive.
