Does anyone have a essence of coffee label they would be willing to share? A tomato and peach can label would be great too. I have been looking but coming up short. I would love to order from Sullivan Press but....

Thanks

They recently had quite a large stock of Sullivan Press CD's in stock. I sure am enjoying the ones I purchased.

Aren't we supposed to be getting beyond the labels? Why do we have to label everyone, can't we just be individuals enjoying the hobby instead of being labeled all the time? Labels just divide us and.......

Huh? What's that?

Not that kind of label?

Oh.

Never mind......

Its a good thing Miss Emily Littella is not moderating grammer, spelling and sentence structure around here. We'd all be staying after school. :p

So, now that we've made a shambles of this thread, somebody give this poor feller a label scan please?????

All the ones I have are copyrighted by Mr. Sullivan, so I can't send them on.

Folks work hard and spend lots of time finding and reproducing labels from the CW period. Unless someone is feeling really generous, I wouldn't hold your breath.

Yes, folks do work hard on finding and reproducing those items. However, the only vendor I know that has these has burned a few of my pards. So, I am in no hurry to put myself in that position. I would be more then happy to purchase them from someone that I am confident in their shipping capabilities. If another vendor is out there I would love to know.

Mrs. Lawson, thank you for being helpful and kind and directing me to S&S. I will be giving them a call this weekend.

Frenchie,
Thanks for the link. Some of those labels are great. I tossed it on my favorites.

Wonderful labels!!

Please do use caution in using them for the CW period--many of them are later in the century----and perfectly appropriate for Cowboy Action Shoot time period.

Dates are an obvious giveaway, in the fine print, but artistic styling and colors utilized can also date an advertising piece to within a very few years. Some of these are well cleaned scans from the LOC collections-too bad more of the documentation was not attached with them.

Nope, not stupid. There's a learning curve to this thing.

First, go here

http://www.loc.gov/pictures/

Then, put in the search term "food labels" (you'll probably think of others)

Sometimes you'll get simply a locator record because the item is not digitized. Other times you'll get a nice high resolution scan of the item.

And, so many things you'll find are delightful and interesting----and a few years post war.

Like this image of a label for Butter Powder.

Oh darn, its 1868. But still, there's a picture of a woman working with her sleeves rolled up above her elbows. And a man escorting a well dressed woman--and he's wearing a vest but no coat......

Oh well, another one of those Things Learned Along The Way.

Not to be a smart-aleck, but when you zoom in, you can actually see that he is wearing a tailcoat (possibly a frock-coat, it's hard to tell), and a vest underneath.

What makes it appear to be just a vest is that, perhaps because of the lighting, his coat sleeve appears lighter than the rest of the coat.

Another Thing Learned Along the Way:

Its REALLY hard to see good detail on an Iphone.

Mrs L.,
Try a large screen, plug/cord, and then there is that pesky power problem!?!?
Just kidding :-)

Poor Pvt,
There are a ton of Label Collectors out there and lots of sites devoted to them. I used to have a page bookmarked but no longer :( Worse comes to worse, GOOGLE search for Antique Can Labels or something like that. Most sites list not only the maker but dimensions and year of production/printing. Right Click, copy and paste in your favourite image editor and adjust to proper size!

Just remember that if your using your can to cook in, the label will most likely burn off anyways, that is unless you plan to be receiving items from home! ;)

Good luck !
P.S. THANKS Frenchie & Ms. Lawson!

best regards,
Zak
