Hey ho

I am not reenacting yet but what kind of blanket should I use? are there different ones for cold or comfort? and where can I find these things where they dont cost an arm or a leg?

The US Regulation blanket from Charlie Childs is a good one. But you will have to give up a leg or $135.

I went the cheap route and ordered an economy wool blanket, and recieved basicly a big sheet of lint. So now I am ordering a better blanket from-Wambaugh, White & Company. I learned the hard way "You get what you pay for." Just my two cents from across the pond.

The blanket on the Sutlers site the brown wool one looks a lot like the one I ordered.

I see, i'm totally into the historic side so I wouldent want to use anything "modern"..haha once a friend of mine used a sleeping bag for comfort

Nothing incorrect with Dans or Charlies stuff.

I'm lucky, I got one of Matt Woodburn's Abe Thomas blankets. This is one of those purchases that you make when it comes along. Best $100 i've spent in the hobby so far.

I would suggest staying away from the Sutler's Stores site for now. You'll find much better gear here, even though they are closer to you. You have access to the net, and therefore access to some of the better producers of goods.

have fun;

Chris

The "emergency" blanket from Fall Creek will do in a pinch. Or, you could look for a used blanket on the AC forum. They come up for sale now and again.
